Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop artists: one who was able to effectively bridge the gap between pop and country music and conquer the world. Swift has thrown off her country roots like they were second skins, showing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter within her generation. Swift is able to tap into the current trend and create her own. Swift's early hits, especially the neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off the talents of her. However, her album Fearless showcased a writer who was beginning to discover herself, and gaining a huge following. Fearless went on to become a global hit and not just in the United States (where it earned six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. and many other countries. Swift's second album, Speak Now, released just two years after the previous one, built on the success of this album. It propelled Swift to the heights of fame. Swift's popularity grew throughout the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in the genre she was a part of. In the end, when she refocused her music to the stripped-down versions of 2020, folklore, and Evermore however, she remained at the top. It was a position that was confirmed through re-recordings of her previous catalog, as in Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
